Lip Lifting

Overview

Lip lift aims to reduce the distance between the base of the nose and the superior border of the lip. This distance tends to elongate with age. Reducing the vertical height of the lip can result in a more balanced proportions, and can improve facial aesthetics.

 

What does the Surgery involve?

 

The procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic and involves removing a strip of skin underneath the nose. The pattern of skin incision most commonly looks like a ‘Bullhorn’ but the skin design has to be tailored to the individual. Deep dissolvable sutures are placed and fine non-dissolvable sutures are placed in the skin and removed at 7 days in dressing clinic.

 

What are the complications?

 

Scar - noticeable initially - will fade by 12 months

Overcorrection or under correction

Infection

Asymmetry

Smile distortion

Scar contracture
